The Gig Guide.....

The Palladium Club presents the polished tones of Peter Bruntnell on Friday night and then on Saturday slip on the dancing shoes for Northern Soul and Disco.

It's the final Sod 'em and Sing Karaoke Wednesday set at the Buccaneer, Westward Ho! tonight because sadly the venue is closing down. You can get one last fix on Sunday when Tom of Sod 'em... returns for a farewell karaoke party.

Tomorrow Sod 'em and Sing will be at both the Tavern, Bideford, and new venue Sherry's Tavern in Barnstaple, a regular from now on. On Saturday Nick will be at the Tavern (Bideford) and Tom will be at the Visitor's Centre in Clovelly. There's a stint at Sherry's on Monday, too.

Don't miss Quigley's Q Club in Bideford each Friday and Saturday for your fave DJs and tunes.

The Joiners Arms in Bideford welcomes Basil's Blues Band on Friday and then Peter Bruntnell will be there on Saturday, with Dave Little alongside.

The Muddy River Band will be taking blues to Appledore this week, performing at the Seagate Hotel on Saturday, together with special guests.

The George Hotel at South Molton welcomes comedian extraordinaire Rob Deering on Friday, described as "truly wonderful stand-up." Just don't let him sit down... Tickets (01769) 572514. On Saturday it's First Saturday Folk with Ian Hudson, Chris Ayliffe and friends.

The Plough, Torrington, has Sounds of Jazz on Friday at 8pm, featuring Jacqui Dankworth, Digby Fairweather and Kenny Ball for what is billed as the best jazz show in Britain. Ticket info from (01805) 624624.

Hen's at Bishops Tawton presents comedy impersonator JJ Wild on Friday, followed by a disco and then on Saturday there's a tribute to The King, thank you very much!

The Kaiser Monkey Killers (you heard it here first) will be at Glitterball in Barnstaple tonight (Wednesday) for another riotous tribute.

The White Lion, Braunton, heralds the return of band Tentasonic on Saturday.

Cook Island at Mullacott has an Open Mic tomorrow, with the Average Blues Band.

The Blue Zoots, offering acoustic blues with upbeat R&B and joined by Karl Wollinger, will be at the Bunch of Grapes in Ilfracombe on Saturday.

On Friday the Marlboro Club has Sworn Amongst, Subliminal Armies and Deluded all taking to the stage, though hopefully not at the same time...
