There are plenty of 'Old English' Thatched cottages in Chilttlehampton, which is particularly quaint, a fine English village square and great spired Church, old medieval stocks, certainly one to walk round. A little further away from Atherington is High Bickington, again lots of old charm, and possibly the most complete old English Devon village is Chulmleigh, some 8 miles away.
